After a Loooong Haitus...

So, it has been years since I've actually picked up a camera. Of course I have my cellphone camera but, it's just a common snapshot that I like to take. I just haven't been in the mood for any artsy shots. I lost my passion for photography. But lately, an ember has started to glow...

And here I am now, new camera in hand and try to re-learn all the techniques from manyyyy ages ago...

Well, first up, get used to the new cam....my hubby and I decided to do a shift from our favorite camera brand, Nikon to a mirrorless one...Sony. We would have loved to go with the A7 full frame camera...but it is currently out of our budget. So instead, we decided to buy the Sony A6000. We read and heard many good reveiws about it and this will be the camera I will use to get back into the photography groove....

My first step is to get used to the camera....I don't know why but I am sort of shying away from pressing the shutter to the camera. I have a fear that every picture I capture must be beautiful and perfect. I need to get passed that in order to actually start learning and getting to the point that every picture I DO take IS beautiful. But I need practice, practice practice. So I have set out to take the camera out at least 3-4 times a week and practice shooting.

I started this today...my FIRST photoshoot....and I chose some models that I am very sure are NON judgemental... my two beautiful golden retrievers, Charley and Riley.

Charley seemed to be a bit shy and sort of didn't want his picture taken. But Riley was a born model...

These are my favorites....

After all that play, its time to rest.....

Till next time....

Retouching Work

I've been kind away from this blog and actually photography in general. A lot of things have been going on but I've decided to start it all back again. I am working on a fresh new website for my portraits and in the process of setting up another one for retouching work. I've re-worked a few of my photos for the retouching websites... Original - And here is the after - I also wanted to take that branch out on the left hand side because it was quite distracting. So here it is without the branch. I also added a color enhancement on it to make the colors pop a bit more. Here is the second edit I worked on today. Original - I adjusted tones and contrast a bit. Then worked on the skin. Here is the result for that. I wanted to soften the lines under the eyes a little without completing removing it which would make it look too unnatural. Finally, i wanted his eyes to really pop. So here is the final image with an eye enhanceme...

Planning Stage for our Conceptual High Fashion Shoot

So last weekend we had a collab with a group of photographers and we used some of my gowns from my wardrobe collection for the shoot. I also adorned some of the models with the fused glass jewelry that I created previously. I had so much fun that I decided my 3rd FASHION FLIRTY OPEN SHOOT EVENT will be one indoors. This kicked off my planning stage. I wanted this shoot to be a fully thought out, conceptual shoot with full on accessories, jewelry and wardrobe.... I met with one of my makeup artists to talk about a few ideas and today i have created a fb group that would serve as the "meeting ground" for the concept shoot team that is on private...and ill only add those participating in the event. The concept i have decided on is THE ELEMENTS OF ALCHEMY.... each model with represent an element as envisioned by the designers.... EARTH...FIRE...WIND/AIR....WATER.... AETHER.... and a sixth element METAL.... here are some of the details for the planning stage... 1......
