Why Post Process...

I get a lot of people asking me if they can have their raw files.... I always answer "I'm sorry I don't give out RAW or unedit files"

I know some people don't understand this and I hope one day it will all be cleared up. One thing I hope to impart to all those that i photograph is that I treat my photography as an art form. I've always been creative from making bead jewelry, fused glass, creating bags and clothes and even more. So as part of that creativity, I got into photography.

It gives me great pleasure to snap a photo and deliver a beautiful photo and see my client or model smile in delight. I want all the imperfections of life to fade away, bring out and show them the inner beauty that has always been there...

The process of creating these "finished products" starts from the camera. There are certain settings you have to do and most tutorials or classes tell us to expose your photos a certain way...get a good exposure so that you don't have to do a lot of post processing. This is true but I still believe that every photo should go through a certain amount of post.

Our cameras are unforgiving...this means that every detail...every pore every imperfection is recorded...which in realilty may probably go unnoticed by the regular person. These imperfections may be temporary or even permanent. But in my creations, I believe these are things that can fade away...they are an unimportant part of your beauty and so i like to diminish it. I like to create the glow of beauty of how one feels and bring that out in my picture...almost as if they are fairy land.. (And that incidentally is why i love conceptual photography too...)

So when i click the shutter, i expose a certain way.. a lot of times, it may be underexposed or a little dark...or i may shoot from a distance and a certain angle....all of these with the intention of a specific look. I am constantly still learning and evolving with both my shooting style and my post processing workflow in order to develop a style that is my own....for sure i am not there yet and i have a long way to go...

But in the meantime, i hope i am making some people happy when they see their photos....

Just a sample of the post i do...

This is the SOOC...i like it kind of nice, face is a little dim..but i like to add to the image to give it more oomph...

If you notice in the first picture the clothes kind is off centered...falling off the shoulder a bit, so i fix that so that it looks balanced and more presentable...

Then i fix the exposure a little, making it slightly brighter and brightening up the face part especially... then do a skin routine to smoothen and clear and highlight

Next is to balance the colors, giving the skin creamy and pinkish tones...saturating colors then adding vignette to lead the focus...

I used to work on the bokeh via photoshop but found it not that pleasing...i'll definitely have to invest in a prime lens instead to do that..

And once thats done, here is my final edited retouched photo...

And when i give this to my client/model, I feel more satisfied with my work. This is what i want to capture and provide for them...not just click and thats it.... So I hope one day they will understand that i just want to give the best work i can and not unfinished work...

Back to editing....

PATRICIA | OUTDOOR BEAUTY PORTRAIT SESSION

"A warm smile is the universal language of kindness " - William Arthur Ward Most of the times, we want models to have a far away serious pose..it gives the photograph mystery and drama. This model certainly has that down...she is awesome at projecting.... Yet, what I love about shooting her is her smile... it also has that mystery like you just want to know what mischievous plan is she brewing up now... very lovely... Here is Patricia from the Basic modelling workshop on June18, 2016 PATRICIA https://www.facebook.com/369708589743959/photos/?tab=album&album_id=1057573924290752 For Classic Beauty Portrait Sessions, you may send me a message on my facebook page:  https://www.facebook.com/EarthlyVisionz/ Smile and Stay Beautiful...Happy Shooting...

Week 3 Catch Up - Shades of Grey

I am almost all caught up with the themes. I have the next 2 themes ready and just need to post them here on my blog.  So, this post is a catch up for week 3, Shades of Grey. I love taking sky pictures because of the beautiful colors. I decided, though, that this photo still looks great in black and white because of the brilliant sun. So here's my submission for the theme.... This was taken on January 31, 2011 at Villa Escudero. Taken with Samsung GT-I8000 (cellphone) F-stop f/2.8 Exposure time 1/16384 sec ISO-50 Edited with Picasa 3 - made black & white, adjusted tuning I also wanted to post a picture that my hubby took that also works with the Shades of Grey Theme....it's my sister-in-law's Dog (Zoey's) best friend...."Cat" (aka 'Ket")..... I'm still trying to convince hubby to join in with the photo challenges....

MCP Project 52 Photo Challenge

This year I have joined several challenges....a crafting challenge...a jewelry challenge... and now I am officially joining a photography challenge. I've actually wanted to come up with a theme for each week and host a challenge myself. However, this has proven to be a difficult task to handle. So instead, I am joining the folks at MCP Project 52. They are currently on week 4...so I am already late. I do want to catch up, though because after scanning through the past themes, I found them quite engaging. So, this blog was created to display my photos and tell you a bit more about why I decided to take them....If you'd like to join in, stop by the website . Anybody can join at anytime!
